Press release No. 10:
A ‘warm up’ for the grand Gala Evening
There has been great interest shown by event riders, trainers and supporters in the coming auction taking place in Luhmühlen this weekend. Well-known riders from the season’s championship and Olympic scenes will be at the riding centre in Lühmühlen again this year and, thus, give the auction days a certain international flair.
Elmar Lesch, organizer of the Top-Event-Horse-Event Auction, has a few surprises up his sleeve. Some of the 20 young event horses coming under the hammer have exceptional talent and according to Elmar, have potential for a great sporting career.
Up to now, approximately 12,000 people have used this internet homepage to inform themselves about the auction. Also 650 downloads have been made to print out the auction catalogue; these statistics show how much interest has been generated and Top-Eventers are naturally pleased with this result.
On Wednesday evening the Top-Eventers collection 2008 was shown to the public for the first time. In a relaxed atmosphere the youngsters had the opportunity to get to know the indoor riding arena. The riders presenting the auction candidates are as follows: Linda Algotsson (the Swedish Olympic team rider), Julia Mestern (this year’s winner of Boekelo), Beeke Kaack (German Reserve Champion), Nadine Marzahl and Malte Dohm. Golden medal winner from the Olympics Andreas Dibowski guided spectators through the evening displaying his qualities as a presenter, as he has done in the previous years.

Catalogue Number 3, ‘Söderhof’s Rakete’, ridden by Linda Algotsson, giving a convincing performance in Luhmühlen.
The 150 visitors witnessed an interesting equestrian show in the Kurt-Günter-Jagau indoor riding school in Luhmühlen. Having been ridden in this ‘warm up’ presentation, the auction horses are sure to be well-prepared for the Gala Evening on Friday and we can all look forward to an entertaining show. Let’s see which surprises the auction team and comedian Cirillo, alias Andreas Baumann, have ready for us! The evening begins at 7 pm and entrance is free. Refreshments are available and a DJ will round off the evening with light music.
And, do remember, alongside the entertaining elements, we are bound to see some impressive sport too. Not to be missed!
Commencement of the auction: Saturday, 1st November 2008 at 2 pm.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Top-Event-Horse-Auction in Luhmühlen!
Press release No. 9:
German-bred event horses were predominant at the World Championships for 6 and 7 year old eventers in Lion d’Angers.
Two weeks before the up-to-date Top-Eventers Collection of Three-Day-Eventers are due to be auctioned, all eyes were focused on the World Championships for 6 and 7-year old eventers in France. Among the international riders and equestrian enthusiasts were Elmar Lesch, the auction’s initiator and his partner Linda Algotsson who, riding her 6-year old Hanoverian mare Lilli Pop K, reached 6th place.
Last year Elmar Lesch was placed 12th in the class for 6-year olds with the previous Top-Eventers auction horse Raumalpha. This year the Trakehner gelding has been ridden by the daughter of his Swiss owner and has already won at CIC* level. Raumalpha comes from the reputed breeding yard Gestüt Heidekaten which has this year again an auction candidate, the mare Light of Silvermoon.

Cat. No. 9: Light of Silvermoon from the stud Heidekaten – a horse certain to catch your eye.
International top riders are looking increasingly to horses coming from German breeds and have been well-advised to do this: From 9 German horses in the field of participants at the World Championships for 6-year olds, 3 were placed in the top ten. Another 6 of the 14 German bred horses in the 7-year olds class were also in the top 15. The Hanoverian Breeding Society was rewarded with the World Breeding Trophy in Lion d’Angers as the most successful breeding society, ahead of the legendary eventing horses from Ireland and Great Britain.
This result just goes to show once more the very special quality of German Three-Day-Eventers and looking towards the next championships, either in juniors or at professional level, it can be concluded that the Top-Event-Horse-Auction is an excellent opportunity to view a wide range of elite eventing horses at one central venue. The selection of 20 carefully chosen auction horses ranges from 4-year old youngsters to 6-year old German Championship participants (the latter being ready to put straight into * level competition).

Cat. No. 11: Indurain - Although still ‘green’ and inexperienced, he impresses everyone with a promising jump, an outstanding gallop and his supple movement.

Kat. Nr. 18: Novara –a 5-year old mare with many stories of success! A Top-Eventer ‘made in Germany’.
Please click onto the heading Collection on the homepage and you will be able to gain a good impression of this year’s auction selection. From Wednesday, 29th October 2008 to Saturday, 1st November 2008 the horses will be shown daily in Luhmühlen. Andreas Dibowski, one of the Olympic team gold medal winners, will be commentating during the training sessions and giving interesting details about the horses. Up until Friday, 31st October 2008 prospective clients and buyers will have the possibility to try out the Top-Eventers. Please arrange an appointment with Elmar Lesch (Tel: +49 (0) 171 – 450 86 73) or Iris Schless (Tel: +49 (0) 171 – 260 51 53).
Press release No. 8:
Top-Eventers collection 2008
The highlight of the eventing season in Germany, the German Championships for novice eventers, has just taken place and now the Top-Eventers GmbH can complete the selection for this year’s auction collection. You can find all auction horses under "collection 2008" now.

The complete auction catalogue with all detailed information and additional impressions of the horses, including several pages of photos, is also available in pdf format for viewing and downloading (free of charge) now. Please click on "Catalogue Download".
20 of the 4 – 6 year old elite eventing horses have already completed the careful selection process and strict examinations and are now part of the official auction collection for 2008. As part of the Top-Event-Horse-Auction they will change hands and be transferred to their new owners on Saturday, 1st November 2008.
It’s worth mentioning that there are several horses in the 5 – 6-year old group that have above-average talent and this was more than visible at this year’s German Championships in Warendorf. On top of that most of the other eventers of this age group can be proud of their impressive placings and winnings at shows. It’s true to say that Top-Eventers GmbH will be presenting again not only for professional riders, but also for ambitious novice riders, a varied range of high-quality horses.

Cat. No. 20: Lennox S, 6-year old gelding, sired by Lanciano, out of a Larome dam. This horse has been closely observed by many enthusiast at the German Championships 2008 and is included in the Top-Event-Horse-Auction on Saturday, 1st November 2008.
Another interesting snippet of news is that some of the 4-year old ‘unpolished diamonds’ have even achieved top results at reputed shows. At the top of the list is this year’s southern Germany/Saxon-Thuringian Cross-Country Champion!

Cat. No. 1: Ellison: 4 year old Hannoverian mare sired by Escudo I out of a Wendulan mare.
An interesting horse, easy to ride and has super movement. She approaches the fences with skill and has an impressive galloping stride. Completed her first cross-country obstacles with a clear head and has that 'extra sparkle'.
The auction initiator, Elmar Lesch, himself a well-known international and successful Three-Day-Event rider and trainer is convinced that the horses in this year’s collection will follow in the footsteps of the previous years’ horses. “Our concept of presenting a varied and balanced collection of eventers is right. We can see that the success of former auction horses ranges from partnerships with juniors up to the professional riders. This year we have been especially happy to congratulate Juliana Kaup, who riding her now 6-year old mare Limone, won the novice championship in their first season together. Michael Jung, a rider who runs a professional eventing yard in the Black Forest, qualified all 3 horses that changed hands at last year’s auction into the possession of his sponsor for this year’s German Championships. Riding Don Lovely, he was placed under the top 5 in the 5-year old class of novice eventers.
When selecting horses for the auction, we are not prepared to make compromises and alongside the faultless character test and above-average talent, a strict vet’s check is part of the most important criteria. Unfortunately there are always interesting horses which don’t pass this selection procedure successfully.
In 2008, there is a definite quality before quantity priority. Looking at the success stories up to now of the horses which have been out at shows proving their skills, it’s not too difficult to demonstrate these youngsters in the auction collection. Their performances and abilities speak for themselves. I’m very confident that these horses are equipped with everything they need for a successful sporting career”.
Prospective clients have the possibility to personally inform themselves and try out the horses at Elmar Lesch’s riding centre in Bavendorf from October 2008. Please arrange an appointment by contacting:

Press release No. 7:
Four of the 2008 German Championship participants are previous auction horses from the Top-Eventers
Four of the five qualified former auction horses were to be seen at the national season’s highlight in Warendorf, Germany. The 5- and 6-year old top eventers performed extremely well in front of many expert spectators and, of course, were critically observed by the judges. Asta and Don Lovely, both ridden by Michael Jung, and Gräfin Giuliana, ridden by Moritz von Ziegner, were in the 5-year olds class and Dragon … yes, the third horse ridden by Michael Jung, shone and caught not only the attention of the judges but of all the crowd.
There were quite a few difficult obstacles waiting to be tackled on the cross-country course of the DOKR in Warendorf. One could see that a high standard was being asked for in the qualifying rounds for the German Championships. The class for 5-year olds was of a high level and Don Lovely did well by making it straight into the finals and the 8.2 mark gave him a definite place. The young horse was presented beautifully by Michael Jung and he deserved to be one of the best 17 partnerships, selected from 49 starters.

Don Lovely and Michael Jung at the German Championships for 5 year old eventers
Following Don Lovely, Gräfin Giuliana and Aska performed splendidly and achieved good results. In the final qualification, the promising chestnut mare Gräfin Giuliana went skilfully around the tricky course convincingly. Aska gained ground in the qualifying section and after a good course, finished with a mark of 8.3 and 6th place. Only the best five places went on to take part in the Championships so she narrowly missed this chance.

Gräfin Giuliana ridden by Moritz von Ziegner
Dragon, ridden by Michael Jung, has only been competing at shows and competitions this year and yet amazingly went directly through the qualifying rounds and would have reached the championships of the 6-year olds. The impressive gelding was not to be missed with his powerful galloping stride and clever skills over the fences. He was rewarded with a mark of 8.6 and 3rd place in the qualifiers. However, Michael Jung decided to call it a day and not ride this young horse in the final round of the German Championships. Having more than proved himself, it was felt that this youngster had topped expectations and shouldn’t be asked to extend his limitations. A wise decision in the interest of a young horse that is certainly at only the beginning of a great career.
Dragon, also ridden by Micheal Jung
On the Sunday of the German Championships, Don Lovely was lying in 3rd place after super marks in dressage (7.3) and show-jumping (8.3). Then it was off around the cross-country course! Michael Jung displayed a well-disciplined and convincing round in which Don Lovely was encouraged to use his strengths in jumping and in his substantial stride in gallop. The final marks of 8.2 gained this impressive partnership 5th place overall. One could say that this mark was a little low for the performance given but generally everyone was delighted with the result. We would like to congratulate both horse and rider on this achievement.
By the way: Many of the Top-Novice horses that took part at this year’s German Championships will be shown at the Top-Event-Horse-Auction on Saturday, 1st November 2008 in Luhmühlen as approximately one third of the carefully selected auction candidates were participants at these championships.
Press release No. 6:
Five previous auction horses qualified for the German Championships this year in Warendorf
From 3rd – 7th September the top names of the German Novice eventers will be contesting against one another at this year’s Championships in Warendorf.
Five previous auction horses from the Top-Event-Horse-Auction in 2007 have qualified with their new riders for this highlight of the season. This is, in fact, one quarter of last year’s auction candidates! Not only professional riders but also amateurs will be partnering the horses in Warendorf. The auction’s organizer, Elmar Lesch, has always placed great importance upon the selection of a varied range of horses, giving prospective purchasers an opportunity to find the right kind of mount. The impressive success stories from the past years certainly confirm this philosophy.
The list of horses qualified for the German Championships for 5-year olds is as follows: Aska and Don Lovely ridden by Michael Jung and Gräfin Guiliana ridden by Moritz von Ziegner. The 6-year olds will be represented by Don Juan M ridden by Constantin von Ziegner and Dragon ridden by Michael Jung.

Qualified for the German Championships for 5 year old eventers: Don Lovely/Michael Jung and Gräfin Giuliana/Moritz von Ziegner
Of course the German Championships offer a great chance to see the horses performing live. During the championships, Elmar Lesch and Iris Schless will be available at the showground. They will be more than pleased to chat personally to anyone interested in the horses. Please note their mobile telephone numbers to enable contact: Elmar Lesch +49 (0) 171 450 86 73 and Iris Schless +49 (0) 171 260 51 53.
The Top-Event-Horse-Auction will take place on Saturday, 1st November 2008 and offers all interested riders, looking for top quality horses, once again the exclusive opportunity to view the collection of approximately 25 elite event horses at one central venue.
From 1st October 2008 all of the auction horses will be available for trial rides at the riding centre belonging to Elmar Lesch. It is advised to make early contact to reserve an appointment for trying out the horses.

A presentation of the Top-Eventers at the showground in Luhmühlen.

Four previous auction horses (top left-hand photo: O Lady Mary) and three auction candidates for this year’s auction were the centre of attention at the Top-Eventers presentation during the CCI Four Star Event in Luhmühlen.

It was good to see several of the previous auction horses: Lutz (Top-Event-Horse-Auction 2007, top left-hand picture) ridden by Franziska Wulfsberg, Limone (Auction 2007, top right-hand picture) ridden by Juliana Kaup, Thalaso (Auction 2005, bottom left-hand picture) ridden by Charlotte Frenzel and O Lady Mary (Auction 2007, bottom right-hand picture) ridden by Nadine Marzahl

Additionally to the presentation of the horses, the auction organizer Elmar Lesch gave a detailed account of the selection criteria in an interview to the presenter Volker Wiebels. He also commented on the placings, success and future prospects the horses which have already been sold at the auctions. It was then interesting to see three candidates from this year’s auction selection list presented in the arena.
El Duro
A 5-year old Hanoverian gelding sired from El Bundy, out of a Wolkentanz dam. Qualified for the German Championships 2008.

At this presentation in Luhmühlen, Elmar Lesch was able to give spectators a small taste of what can be expected at the auction in November 2008, demonstrating the high quality of horses on offer. El Duro and Sarkozy have already qualified themselves for the German Championships this year and Lancelot was placed third at these championships for 5-year old eventers last year. Not only the quality but also the wide range of different types of horse is a priority for the selection process of the auction. With the impressive background of the grandstand and the crowd of spectators, it was interesting to observe how quiet and relaxed the young horses were.
“When selecting young Top-Eventers, we are looking for a balanced character, the ability to be handled easily when ridden, the willingness to perform and, of course, talent and scope. Different types of riders are looking for different types of horses yet our clients’ wishes are very similar. Their aims are to find the horse which matches their own needs and it is our intention to do this. Their wishes are our commands!” explained Elmar Lesch in the interview with Volker Wiebels.
Sarkozy
A 5-year old gelding sired from Sandro Hit, out of a Saros dam (Oldenburg breed). Qualified for the German Championships 2008.

Lancelot
A 6-year old Hanoverian gelding sired from Lauries Cruisador xx, out of a Ramiros Son dam. Placed third at the German Championships 2007 for 5-year old Three-Day-Eventers

Press release No. 3:

From 12th to 15th June 2008, three-day-eventing enthusiasts from all over the world will be gathering in the equestrian village of Luhmühlen, in the north of Germany, to experience some top-class sport and take part in the celebrating of the winners of the CCI**** and the CIC*** Milford Trophy. Similar to a family gathering, eventing personalities will get-together and alongside the sporting highlights, an entertaining programme of interesting features will be offered. In the late afternoon on Friday 13th June after the completion of the dressage class for the CCI****, the Top-Eventers GmbH would like to present several previous auction candidates in front of the grandstand in the main arena. Elmar Lesch, initiator of the auction, is also planning to give visitors to Luhmühlen a small taste of the current collection of auction horses for this year’s Top-Event-Horse-Auction which will be held on Saturday, 1st November 2008.
The list of winnings and placings of previous auction horses from the collections 2005 – 2007 is getting longer and longer and fact is …. success speaks for itself! Not only professional riders but also amateur and novice riders with definite expectations and requirements are going places saddled on Top-Eventers. (Please see also "record to date")
Looking at the up to now positive results of this season, the Top-Eventers GmbH is confident of previous auction horses’ participation at this year’s German Championships, Novice and National Championships, European Novices and World Championships for 6-year old Three-Day-Eventers, CIC** and CIC*** classes under their new owners/riders.
In 2008 the exclusive auction for Three-Day-Event horses will take place for the fourth time.
During the competition at the Four Star and Three Star event in Luhmühlen, spectators and likely owners of young event horses and buyers alike have ample opportunity to wander across to the Top-Eventers Information Stand near to the grandstand. Here one can introduce oneself and have a general chat alongside browsing through the photos and videos of former auction horses.

Press release No. 2:
The Top-Eventers GmbH present:
The Top-Eventers Team
Not only was the idea of an auction, here in Germany, exclusively for Three-Day-Eventing horses the first innovative move on the part of the Top-Eventers GmbH. The company’s intuition for timing coincides with the amazing successes of German riders at the last Championships and at international shows and events around the world, boosting interest amongst enthusiastic riders. By popular demand, German Three-Day-Event horses are being sought after and the cross-country specialists are finally taking their place closely behind the dressage and show-jumping riders.

The Top-Eventers-Team from left to right: Eva Sitzer, Juliana Kaup, Jan-Frederic Buhr, Charlotte Frenzel, Constantin von Ziegner and Nico Sitzer
In order for the German riders to establish themselves firmly at the top of the ranks on a long term basis, a suitable framework must be set out. For many years now, the dressage and show-jumping side of equestrian sport has benefited from such support. Now, with the initiative of the Top-Eventers GmbH and thanks to various assisting measures and kind sponsors, amongst them Christian Zehe (who has provided cross-country fences for use), Reitsport Hagmanns and Horse & Rider, Luhmühlen it has been possible to set up the foundations for establishing a Top-Eventers Team.
Recently the Top-Eventers Team met at Elmar Lesch’s riding centre in Bavendorf for a training session.
At present, the Top-Eventers Team is compiled of 6 members (a mixture of juniors and young riders, aged between 15 and 20 years). One already known face is that of Jan-Frederic Buhr (born in 1993) who was introduced at the Gala Evening last year. Then we have Charlotte Frenzel (born in 1992), Juliana Kaup (born in 1992), Eva Sitzer (born in 1989), Nico Sitzer (born in 1991) and Constantin von Ziegner (born in 1988).
The concept behind the Top-Eventers Team is support and assistance for the young riders with the necessary perspectives in the sporting scene. Additionally to the continued training with backup from Elmar Lesch and Iris Schless, it also includes stays with well-known national team riders and top trainers of the dressage and show-jumping disciplines. For example, the coming Easter holidays will offer the chance to visit Beeke Kaack and the dressage trainer Hannes Baumgardt in Verden. To top that a training session in falling at a judo instructor’s is also planned.
All the team members were already successful in their age group categories:

Jan-Frederic Buhr, the youngest in the team, will be riding exclusively in classes for horses (rather than ponies) and partner up with April Moonlight this year. The 15-year old grammar school pupil from Wittingen has been very successful with his ponies Norlunds Asterix and Winnie Puuh. He has been a participant at a range of competitions and has won and been placed in the Pony Cup of Lower Saxony and at State Pony Championships. These achievements have, of course, all contributed to a smooth switch from riding ponies to horses.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte Frenzel took part in the Novice Championships in Warendorf last year with a previous auction horse from the Top-Event-Horse-Auction 2005, Thalaso. She has also done very well riding on the local show circuit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juliana Kaup will have two great chances in 2008 with Never Say Never and Limone (an auction candidate at the Top-Event-Horse-Auction in 2007). She is in the 11th year at grammar school and has been successful in show-jumping and eventing up until novice level. Last year saw her first participation at a CIC*.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Siblings Eva and Nico Sitzer from the riding club vom Wesenberg are members of the Hamburg teams, E and D. Last year they achieved placings up to CIC* level with Robin and Leonas Dancer. Both are hoping to be able to ride at the German Championships for Young Riders/Juniors.
One couldn’t wish for better horses, already true stars in the eventing world:
Eva and Nico Sitzer, with Robin and Leonas Dancer, have super schoolmasters as partners under the saddle. Robin has been placed with Elmar Lesch up to CIC*** level and the 17-year old Leonas Dancer was ridden by Andreas Dibowski, at no less than the Olympics in Sydney in 2000 and the World Equestrian Games in Jerez in 2002.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constantin von Ziegner has already taken part several times at German Championships (pony and horse classes) and was vice champion in Lower Saxony in 2004. This season the 20-year old has his sights on the German Championships for Young Riders with his mount Final Countdown. Riding his second horse, Don Juan, an auction horse from the Top-Event-Horse-Auction 2007, Constantin will be participating at the qualifications for the German Championships for 6-year event horses. Apart from eventing, Constantin is also keen on four-part competitions (running, swimming, dressage and show-jumping) and has successfully participated up to German Championship level.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first horse show dates are gradually coming closer and the Top-Eventers GmbH is looking forward to accompanying the young riders at competitions with their horses, some of which are still quite young, on their next outings in the sporting world.

Press release No. 1: Centrally-based performance trials for Hanoverian horses
on Friday, 14th March 2008 in Verden.
“Reliable, well-trained Three-Day-Event horses with matched success at shows and events get fair prices. On the other hand, young inexperienced horses can only hope to be judged with a high level of supposition as to their abilities to reach a high potential and, therefore, recognition of their value. As an example of this, I presented six participants of the German National Championships at the last auction. These horses brought a turnover of 210.000 Euros. This results in an average price per horse of 35.000 Euros”. Elmar Lesch comes to this conclusion after three Elite Three-Day-Event auctions have taken place. “There is a huge interest in German event horses. Who would have thought five years ago that the top riders from England, Australia and the United States would come to Germany to do their ‘shopping’? One of the latest sales, for example, Ingrid Klimke’s Seacookie TSF, has shown us that the tables have almost turned and that foreign clients are prepared to dig deeply into their pockets”.
There are various possibilities for breeders and owners to present their horses at the next Top-Event-Horse-Auction on Saturday, 1st November 2008.
On Friday, 14th March 2008 a centrally-based performance trial will take place in Verden, exclusively for Hanoverian horses in agreement with the Hanoverian Breeding Society. This trial will follow the criteria of the well-known Verden selection method. Owing to the early date of this trial, it could be wise for breeders and owners of versatile young novice horses, with good bloodlines, to make the most of the possibility to be professionally advised about the methods of training, selection of shows and preparation for the auction.
Information regarding the timetable for the performance trial can be obtained from Iris Schless (Tel: +49 (0) 171 260 5153, E-Mail: service@top-eventers.com) or Britta Züngel at the Hanoverian Breeding Society (Tel: +49 (0) 4231 – 67333, E-Mail: bzuengel@hannoveraner.com).
Additionally to the centrally-based performance trial, appointments can be made with the Top-Eventers GmbH to present horses at Elmar Lesch’s riding centre in Bavendorf. Please call him to arrange a time and date. (Tel: +49 (0) 5859 – 401 or mobile: +49 (0) 171 450 8673).
On Saturday, 5th April 2008 world-class riders Andreas Dibowski and Elmar Lesch will be in Verden to give a talk on “The modern Three-Day-Event horse – a new market for German-bred horses”. The demands regarding sport and breeding perspectives, together with the possibilities for marketing horses, will be explained in full.
